To estimate massage-oil cost per treatment, divide the bottle's purchase cost by its usable volume, then multiply by the volume used in one service. Use measured consumption from your own treatment protocol, not a generic number of massages per bottle.
The basic calculation
Product cost per treatment = bottle cost ÷ usable millilitres × millilitres used per treatment.
Keep the currency consistent. Include delivery and other relevant acquisition costs when calculating a landed product cost. Allow for waste and product left in the container rather than assuming that every millilitre reaches a guest.
A worked example—not a BIO SPECTRA quotation
Suppose a hypothetical 200 mL bottle costs $100, all 200 mL is usable, and a trial consumes 10 mL per treatment. Product cost is $0.50 per mL, or $5 per service. That gives 20 treatments before any waste allowance. These figures illustrate the method; they are not recommended usage quantities or a statement of our prices.
Measure your actual service
- Select the exact oil and treatment protocol.
- Measure the quantity dispensed using a suitable method.
- Include any reapplication during the service.
- Repeat across several realistic trials and record the range.
- Include normal dispensing loss in your purchasing estimate.
If you measure by weight, use verified density information to convert to volume; do not assume one gram equals one millilitre for every oil.
Keep product cost separate from profit
The oil is only one component of a service. Therapist time, laundry, room costs, payment charges and other operating expenses also matter. A treatment price minus oil cost is not net profit. Nor does a higher-priced bottle automatically produce a better guest experience.
